As an educational public service, Jean-Louis Bourgeois produced and directed a 22-minute documentary film, "Dam Nation" and most recently has produced and directed a 14-minute documentary film "An African River Rises: Struggle Against the Talo Dam" on the impact of the proposed Talo Dam. A 58-minute film will document the importance of water and rivers in everyday Malian life and how a fragile ecosystem could be destroyed if a large-scale dam were to be constructed. The film also demonstrates how the people of Djenné would lose their homes and livelihoods through resulting starvation. The film is in progress and will be made available for viewing at no cost on The Initiative's web site.
